Ian Grayson, an anthropologist, was dropped off at the truck stop in the middle of San Marcos an hour ago. He’s cautious and not sure how far away the people who are chasing him are. He knows he has to find his next ride and fast, but it has to be the right man. 

All truck driver Mackenzie Walker, or Mac as everyone calls him, sees is a good looking hitch hiker asking him for a ride north. He thinks Ian is trouble but decides to give him a ride anyway. Ian has been on the run since he crossed the border into Mexico from Guatemala; he doesn’t know if he can trust Mac but with no identification, he decides to trust his gut and stay with Mac.   

Mac works for the Tomcat Freight Line; he’s ex-military and realizes Ian really needs his help. When Ian is attacked at a rest top, Mac realizes he will need to get Ian to trust him before it's too late.   

The Tomcat Line series by Stevie Woods begins with The Hitch Hiker. I liked the mix of mystery, adventure, and romance this book had to offer.  Ian is a very smart man who just trusted the wrong people. Now it’s become a race to make sure his “find” stays his and doesn’t fall into the wrong hands. At first he isn’t sure he can trust Mac, but the more time they spend together, the more he trusts the sexy trucker. 

Mac is much more than meets the eye; he’s a trucker but he has some military experience in his background and isn’t afraid of a fair or not so fair fight. He is a man who works and loves hard. Mac has a big heart and is wiling to let Ian in.   

I see this as just the beginning of many adventures for these two characters. With Ian’s ability to find trouble, Mac is going to have his hands full with his new lover and the many adventures they will end up taking together.
