Veterinarian Dae Anderson spent years allowing his boyfriend Jack to take advantage of him. Jack repeatedly cheated on him and spent Dae’s money. Dae finally had enough and broke up with Jack and was happy that he never shared his deepest secret. Dae is a werewolf. While on a run through the woods in werewolf form, Dae is struck by an ATV. He is taken to his own clinic were he is cared for by Sean, his assistant. While under Sean’s tender care, Dae saves Sean from a gun toting burglar. Dae is shot during the altercation and chooses to let Sean see him transform. Sean accepts Dae’s dual nature and the two become lovers. Before they can get on with their life together, Sean and Dae must deal with Jack who is not willing to let Dae go without a fight. Kiernan Kelly really wowed me with A Change of Heart. The emotions Dae experiences through the book elevate the story from the run of the mill werewolf story. From betrayal by Jack to the anticipation of new love with Sean, Kiernan Kelly does an amazing job expressing Dae’s emotions. Sean’s love for Dae is constant and strengthens his acceptance of Dae’s werewolf half. One of the most stirring parts of the book for me was Dae and Sean’s response to a fire at their clinic. The honest emotion they feel will not leave you unaffected. Jack is a man you will love to hate and he never has a redeeming moment in the entire book. Kudos to Kiernan Kelly for creating such a wonderful story! |
