Minders are individuals whose psychic abilities are so intense that they can literally control and change the minds of others, including thoughts and attitudes. A clandestine government agency monitors known Minders for the purpose of studying them and if necessary, removing them. Josh had been an agent assigned to locate Kir, a very young and intensely powerful Minder. Josh found himself becoming enamored and involved with Kir, who had been beaten and raped by another agent. Another Minder, Brad, who ordered Josh to destroy Kir, had later turned Josh into a Zombie. Instead, Josh killed Brad and left Kir behind, before the planted mental compulsion to kill his lover Kir could implement itself in his actions. Now he's living a very hand-to-mouth survivalist existence, till his hiding place is discovered by Trey, an agent who intends to tear down the Agency, from the inside. Joely Skye's excellent Minders trilogy continues with Minder, the third volume. Readers once again will thrill to the rapid plot pace and to the ups and downs of the characters. Minder is a sort of espionage wrapped in suspense wrapped in mental and physical violence wrapped in character angst wrapped in gay romance and intimacy story. Truly there is something to appeal to almost everyone here, with the caution that the book does contain some flashbacks of physical and sexual violence. |
