Noah Maitland is a recently divorced man who has finally come out of the closet. He has two teenage sons from his marriage, who he loves with all of his heart and soul.  Now Noah is ready to have a man in his life to call his own.

Zane Halliday, a much younger man than Noah, is struggling as he takes care of his younger brother and sister. Noah offers to help Zane; both men need a friend they can trust and rely on. Someone to help them over the troubles they both have in their lives.  When Noah starts to have romantic feelings for Zane, who is straight, will it cost him his best friend?

A Younger Man by Cameron Dane is an intense and very emotional book. I couldn’t put this book down once I picked it up. Noah is simply captivating; his struggle to be by himself and live a balanced family life was wonderful to see. His two sons are well developed and believable. I like that they aren’t perfect; they seemed more human to me with their faults.

Zane is a man who is older than his age; he’s strong and has had to grow up fast.  He’s mature and it seems natural for him and Noah to be together. I like how Zane struggled with his sexuality; it was very believable. I also liked how friendship can sometimes mean more than love; after all, shouldn’t the person you’re in love with be your best friend? This book is going on my keeper shelf for when I need to read a book with some emotional and angst-filled man love.
