Orlin's parents died leaving him homeless and penniless, in order to survive he sells the only asset he has...himself. Aester is a king without a submissive pet; on his world this state of affairs has given rise to coups, so he sets out to find a pet. Following the directions of the royal seer, Aester spots Orlin and buys him at an auction. As the men learn about each other, will Aester be able to protect Orlin from those who wish to harm both him and his new rule? Orlin's Fall by Amber Kell, the second book in the Planetary Submissives series, can be read as a standalone story. Orlin is a young man who has been some harsh circumstances, which he’s dealt with gracefully. He’s able to bend when necessary to learn the lay of the land in the new world he finds himself in. He protects himself when necessary and yet opens his heart to Aester slowly. I liked King Aester; he’s a royal who wants to change his world but knows that change will have to happen slowly. I loved how he accepted that his feelings for Orlin quickly and that he shifted his focus on getting Orlin to return his feelings so he would not want to leave at the end of the five year contract agreed upon at the auction. I also liked how Aester dealt with those who wanted to detract the validity of his feelings for Orlin because they felt Orlin had too much power over him. Aester lived his life the way he wanted to. I enjoyed this addition to the Planetary Sub missives series and look forward to seeing where Ms. Kell will take us next in this series. |
