Raven is a painfully shy single dad with a stutter who is raising his son, Ryan, the best he can. Luck is finally on his side when Ryan becomes fast friends with Wolf, who comes equipped with older brother Brody, and Brody’s two boyfriends, Zak and Lark, the owner’s of Sandpiper’s Restaurant. Lark is well meaning and decides to play matchmaker at Wolf’s birthday party by introducing Raven to Sandpiper’s new chef, Mark Carter. Although Raven is reluctant to begin a relationship with Mark, he can’t deny the explosive chemistry that exists between them. Will Mark’s patience be enough to make Raven give love a second chance? I loved, loved, loved Raven’s Mark! Jade Archer created characters who were easy to love and who you desperately wanted to get their happily ever after, especially after the truth about Raven’s past is disclosed. Raven’s near agoraphobia and hesitancy to start a relationship with Mark made perfect sense after he recounted the details of his prior abusive relationship. I’d like to commend Ms. Archer for the way she handled the subject of males being the victims of domestic violence. It’s not something that’s written about often or that gets the same attention as women who are battered. She handled it with the sensitivity and respect that it deserved. Raven’s Mark is a well written story that will pull at your heart strings while making you want more. It is a definite must read. Raven’s Mark is the second book in the Sandpipers series and can read alone. However, you’ll want to read Sandpiper’s Secrets to learn all about Lark, Zak and Brody. |
