On Cassie Gambol’s first day in Petal, Georgia her car is rear ended by Sheriff Shane Chase’s mom. Cassie is on the run from her violent ex husband. He failed to kill her, but he did ruin her medical career. She escapes him and makes a new life for herself in Petal. Shane is drawn to the newcomer but he knows she is hiding something. Despite heartbreak in his past, Shane pursues Cassie. It takes all his skills to get close to her. Ultimately, the only thing that works is honest emotion. As Cassie and Shane fall in love Cassie’s past comes back with a vengeance. Fans of Lauren Dane will not be disappointed by Taking Chase. It is a classic Lauren Dane book with compelling characters, hot sex, and honest emotions. Cassie’s journey from a wounded, untrusting woman into a woman in love and happy was a joy to read. Shane makes his own journey from a woman-chasing hound that refuses to trust a woman with his heart into a man reveling in his love for Cassie. They are not easy journeys for either. Watching the ways Cassie and Shane work together to build a relationship is very stirring. Lauren Dane created a villain I just wanted to decimate from his first appearance in the story. Cassie’s ex, Terry, is the type of violent bully everyone dreams of taking down. Taking Chase is a book I never wanted to end. I am eagerly awaiting for the next book in this wonderful series by Lauren Dane. |
