Tate Kenney has been with his partner, Henry Alexander, for over four years. Deck is the town sheriff, and used to be Tate’s childhood best friend. About once a month, he gets calls about how Henry has beaten up Tate. Tate won’t leave the abuser, which is frustrating Deck, who loves Tate as more than just a friend.

Deck wants to save Tate, but Tate has to save himself first. When Tate decides to leave Henry, it will be Deck who has to be strong. Can he and will he be able to save the man he loves?

Saving Tate by Will Banks is the sad story of Tate, who stays with an abusive lover. This was frustrating and difficult for me, as the reader, to comprehend. I couldn’t really understand why he would stay with a person who treated him like that.  Then Tate jumped from an abusive relationship to another relationship without any transition. This made this book unbelievable for me.

I think the emotions should have been fleshed out more and the characters should have been given more time to adjust and get their heads in the right place. That would have made this book an amazing read because as it is right now, it feels rushed and not well done.
