Something Wicked This Way Comes is an anthology by Jaid Black, Desiree Holt, Eliza Knight, Mel Tescho, Kathy Kulig, and Laurann Dohner. Each story is uniquely erotic.

Captain of Nara’s Heart by Laurann Dohner

Nara, a trader by profession, is being sold into the pleasure market for a year. She was caught delivering medical supplies; her choice was going to prison or becoming a pleasure slave. At least pleasure slaves are fed and returned alive, but prisoners not so much, so the choice to become a pleasure slave was easy. Nara is originally from Earth; she wanted a life full of adventure so she took off into space. Now she’ll get more than she bargained for.

When a captain going into heat needs her, she makes a deal—six days of nonstop pleasure and then she gets her freedom. Will Nara want to leave at the end of the six days?

Captain of Nara’s Heart by Laurann Dohner is a story I never wanted to end. Ms. Dohner brought me into the world of pleasure slaves and made me never want to leave. Nara is both strong and vulnerable at the same time, making her a character I will never forget. I would love to see her get her own full-length story, or even one a series for the crew; they would be really interesting to read.

Dragon Heat by Mel Tescho

Grace Macintosh is masquerading as a hooker in Sydney. She works for the Paranormal Detection Agency. Benson Marres is a reclusive billionaire and seasoned womanizer. Benson is Grace’s target; she’s supposed to capture dangerous paranormals. But now, due to a betrayal, he is her only hope for survival.

Dragon Heat by Mel Tescho has a lot of twists and turns for such a short story, but I found myself really enjoying it. This is the first book I’ve read by Ms. Tescho and it made me wonder what else this author has out there. There is passion, heat, and a dragon you just have to meet.

Dangerous Addiction by Desiree Holt

Cord Jamieson has an uncontrollable urge to get Fallow Crowe into bed. He knows she’ll be the perfect sub for him. He has hired her to promote his ranch, but he has an uncontrollable need to dominate her. But after two months, it seems as if she’s avoiding touching him. How can he get a career-driven woman to realize she is the sub of his dreams?

Desiree Holt brings on the leather and lace in Dangerous Addiction. Cord is a strong dominant that knows what he wants and goes after it. Fallow has been hurt in the past and thinks she needs to bury her submissive nature. Watching Cord bring out Fallow’s submissive nature was amazing and hotter than sin.

My only complaint is that this is the only story in this anthology with no paranormal tie-in. I personally would have liked to see that to keep it within the same theme of the rest of the stories.

Highland Tryst by Eliza Knight

Lair Finley MacClintock has survived the destruction of his keep and village. He’s about to die, when the village witch transports him to present day Maryland. Kari Howard is an ER nurse who’s found out her boyfriend has been cheating on her. When Fin materializes before her eyes, Kari is about to discover that not all men are liars and cheats, especially not Scots from the 12th century.

Eliza Knight brings old world Scot Fin to modern day Maryland in Highland Tryst. I found this story to have both heat and humor; I liked how he had to figure out modern day life while keeping his old world male attitudes. Kari needs someone old fashioned, and who wants to love only her. She gets her wish in spades with Fin.

Tattoo Witch by Kathy Kulig

Anita and Sam are walking on the beach when they meet a couple with tattoos. When the couple tells them about a tattoo shop whose tattoos can increase their sex drive and help them be freer with sex, they both decide to try it out. But magic has a price, and both Sam and Anita are about to find out it might not be a price they’re willing to pay.

Out of all the stories in the anthology, Tattoo Witch by Kathy Kulig was not one of my favorites. I found the fact they could get rid of one curse by getting another curse, or tattoo, to be unbelievable. I think this would have been a better story if it had been a full story instead of something that seemed rushed. It needed more detail and explanation to make it work. The bones of the story are good but it never quite came together for me.

The Addiction by Jaid Black

Shelli Rodgers wants to be a pole dancer but has no grace or coordination; she’s just horrible at it. But she needs the job for at least six more months so she can finish completing her degree. Jack Calder has it all, but longs for a real relationship with a woman who is not materially obsessed. When he visits the Venus Rising Strip Club, he sees Shelli. Her pole dancing makes him laugh for the first time in a long time and when he gets to know her better, he knows she is the one for him. But is Jack the one for Shelli?

I loved this story by Jaid Black; there is humor, heat and a love story which I truly believed in. I think Ms. Black is an amazing story teller and I would love to read more by her. If you want a good laugh, with hotter than sin sex then The Addiction is a must read for you.

Something Wicked This Way Comes has a little bit of everything. I think this is an anthology that paranormal lovers will want on their keeper shelves. And, if you’re a fan of hotter than sin cowboys who like BDSM, then you’re going to love Ms. Holt’s addition to this anthology. I know when I want to read something that will keep me extra warm this winter, I will be re-reading this anthology.
