Tammy Jo Trask is a witch with magic that sometimes works - sometimes doesn’t - and right now she could really use some working magic, because it seems that everyone is out to get her. She’s being investigated by the council of WAM, the World Association of Magic, and it seems that the council is hiding some secrets of its own. Some local residents have banded together to kidnap Tammy and plan to rid her hometown of Duvall of witchcraft, which means she must go. Then a strange package arrives in the mail, with a ghost in trouble attached to it, and Tammy is determined to figure out the mystery.

On top of everything else, a string of unnatural disasters is happening, and Tammy must figure out a way to stop the destruction of her town. While all of this is going on, Bryn Lyons, a powerful wizard, is still trying to convince Tammy that they belong together, especially because their magic gets a boost when they work jointly. However, a prophecy has proclaimed that she needs to stay away from him. Tammy Jo has to decide if she should work with Bryn to save the town and their lives, or if that will doom them forever.

This is book three in the Southern Witch series, and while it can be read as a stand-alone, I recommend reading the first two to get the background information and just because they are so good. In this book, Tammy Jo is finally coming to terms with her mixed up magic and her mixed heritage. Her character is sweet, funny and not afraid of a good fight, with fists or magic. I love the way she takes charge and gets things done, and the crazy things that happen along the way. And Bryn is oh-so-sexy, charming and mysterious; I just can’t get enough of him. Lucky for me, he’s a constant companion to Tammy in this book, helping her or arguing with her about her wild antics.

Halfway Hexed is a laugh-out-loud magical ride that I didn’t want to stop. There’s humor, romance and action all rolled into a fun, entertaining read with great characters and an intriguing plot. I was hooked from the beginning and can’t wait for the next installment!
