Pack beta Blake Savage wants to settle down to an ordinary life with a mate. When an unknown illness starts attacking his community, it results in his pack alpha’s death, making Blake the new alpha. Wade Collins is also a pack alpha. He has accepted this responsibility, knowing it would not leave time for anyone else in his life. But when the prophetic Chosen One comes into his territory, offering his protection against the vampires this lead Wade to Blake’s small community, he finds his mate in Blake. With part of the prophecy fulfilled, will Blake and Wade's love be enough to keep them together, allowing them to fulfill the entire prophecy? I found Ancient Prophecy 2: Savage Moon Rising by Leiland Dale to be a standalone novel. There are some parts that would be better explained had I read the first book, but I found it not completely necessary to enjoy this one. Blake liked being second-in-command; it meant most of the responsibility was not on him. When he is promoted to Alpha, he knows that means the end of his dreams of a simple life one day with a mate. But he does what he has to do. He doesn’t shake off his responsibilities; he takes them on. Conversely, Wade has always been an Alpha, yet he needs the joy and love that a mate could bring into his life. Together Wade and Blake balance each other out perfectly. I really enjoyed getting to know them and am looking forward to the next book in this series. I want to see what the prophecy has in store for these wolves next.
