 | Title: Oleander House Author: Ally Blue Publisher: Samhain Publishing Genre: Mystery, Gay, Paranormal Publication date: October 2006 ISBN: 1-59998-147-5 Pages: 677 Lit Series: Bay City Paranormal Investigation Book One | Sam Raintree is embarking on his very first job for Bay City Paranormal Investigations; he’s not even had time to move into his new apartment in Mobile before packing up and hitting the road to Mississippi. His new coworkers are an interesting and knowledgeable collection of investigators of the paranormal, but the co-head of the company is an astonishingly beautiful man named Bo Broussard, who is, unfortunately for Sam, happily married and a father of two wonderful sons. Sam is gay but has learned much earlier to conceal that fact as often as possible; in the case of his sudden attraction for his new employer, an admission at the wrong time might well be career suicide. Oleander House has a long and eventful history; several of the families who had resided in it did so happily and peacefully, yet on a number of other occasions nearly entire families were brutally slaughtered, leaving only one family member as a catatonic witness. On the first evening in the antique residence, the investigators are confronted with something definitely out of the ordinary, and the story is off and running, much to the reader’s delight. Ally Blue begins this exciting new series with a wonderful first entry, Oleander House. Her characterization is excellent, the plot is intriguing, and her protagonists are hot-hot-hot. As a lifetime reader of the paranormal genre, I found Oleander House absolutely exciting and heart-stopping, and I definitely plan to read all the further installments in the Bay City Paranormal Investigations series. |
