When a homeless youth named Bobby was accosted, he was the first to respond. From that moment on his life changed. Sam held hope that he’d one day be able to date the wine store owner. His job as a cop left him little time to do much dating. Buying wine became his weekly routine. When he found out about Bobby, he promised to help in any way he could. Between two men, store workers, and one young talented teen, their lives became intertwined, bonds enmeshed and a sense of family took root where once there was none. But that didn’t stop the danger that lurked, or the insane compulsion of one man to prove ownership over one no longer helpless boy. Bottled Up by Andrew Grey touched my soul. Not many people in the world would take the time out to help another individual, much less offer them a chance of a better life. Even when obstacles stood in the way, not only did Sean face them head-on, he taught a young scared boy how to trust and to see the world in less of a monstrous light. Hope is a hard thing to maintain when all else has been brutally ripped away – replaced by fear and cynicism. I found so much joy in reading this story that it brought tears to my eyes. Andrew Grey continues to stun me with his endearing storytelling. I’d definitely recommend reading Bottled Up. |
