Emma wakes up in a forest after a terrible automobile accident still wearing her fairy costume with her purse. She has the steering wheel of her car and a locket that contains a poem written on a piece of paper that may be her second chance. She manages to make her way to the nearest village to find that she has somehow ended up in ancient Scotland in 1351.  A half blind woman, Alli, comes to her aide, helping Emma to find shelter with a most enigmatic and cynical but handsome Scot, Iain Campbell.  Emma finds she is attracted to the Scot and wants him to trust her but is afraid he won’t believe her since he and his kin believe she is one of the “Good Folk.” 

After a near deadly incident involving the jealous Rosalynn, Emma discovers her life depends on the locket containing the mysterious and ever changing piece of paper inside it. But danger lurks in the form of the feuding Macgregor clan who seeks revenge on the Campbells and plan to take it by using Emma and her magic locket.
