Faye Lynn has endured years of abuse at her father’s hand.  She is a shifter who has not been properly trained. Instead, she has been taught to be ashamed of what she is and what her body needs.  She is confused. She remembers close to nothing of her childhood. Trust is hard for her to come by, and safety seems elusive.  Still, she finds the courage to sneak out for a night of freedom. And her path is irrevocably changed from that instant on.

Havyn is a complex shifter with many secrets. Banished from his homeland, he makes ties with the new world in which he lives. When he finds a young woman trespassing on his lands, passion gives way to immense need.  It leaves them wanting more as Havyn leads them on a journey that encompasses meeting the unsavory to finding an entrance to the world that banished him. Pieces of the puzzle that is Faye Lynn link together in Havyn’s mind.  Even as he begins to figure her out, Faye Lynn’s questions remain unanswered.  She clings to him, the only source of protection left to her. Something about him, the way he moves and his mannerisms tell her he can be trusted. All the while, Havyn questions his ability to give her up and leave her in her rightful lands.

Banished Hero by Anita Philmar is a heart-warming story. I was enamored by the depth of the characters and their plight.  When I can fall into a story like I did this one and see it through the characters’ eyes, I find myself captivated and unable to relinquish the story until its ending.  Faye Lynn tugged at my heart-strings.  Havyn became my fantasy hero.  The sexual tension and heat scorched me, yet left me wondering halfway though if their relationship would progress to something substantial. I was not left in the dark or left unsatisfied.  The ending had a profound effect on me. l look forward to reading more from Anita Philmar!
