In Seventh Taboo, Yvonne Eve Walus creates a futuristic world in which most social encounters are illegal. The heroine first meets her hero, Jade, in an illegal game of Fiasco and the two have an immediate and powerful attraction for one another. Believing they may be clones (finding one’s clone is also taboo), they employ high tech cyber chopping and many other taboo and illegal actions to discover the reason for their intense fascination for each other. However, when they discover what it is, it may just astound you. I always wondered what would happen if we didn’t take the iPod plugs out of our ears and get our faces out of the cyber screens, and here it is. Ms. Walus has created an exquisite piece of science fiction with the promise of love that would make Josh Whedon proud. I was captivated at the onset by the intelligent voice of Ms. Walus permeating this delightful story. If you like science fiction and a fast-paced story, Seventh Taboo is a must read. |
