Thirteen years ago Shane Dominic was devastated when his steady girlfriend Laura Vazquez abruptly left him, marrying another man. Shane’s always carried a torch for her, measuring all his subsequent relationships based on his sweet love. Knowing through the years Laura was sharing her love with a real scumbag, he’s been working behind the scenes gathering evidence to put him away. On the eve of a major breakthrough into the investigation with a possible arrest looming, Laura’s husband mysteriously is murdered. Shane realizes Laura isn’t safe and decides to kidnap her for her safety. Will he rue his decision to abduct her? Beth Kery continues to amaze me with her awesome writing talents with the highly erotic suspenseful thriller, Sweet Restraint. Shane takes matters into his own hands, jeopardizing his career and freedom in abducting Laura. The minute he arrives at her house, he simply can’t keep his hands off her. He wastes no time in dominating Laura with his own brand of D/s which left not only her but me breathless in its intensity. Laura is outraged at first by his audacity but is powerless to deny him since she’s never forgotten her first love. When Shane decides to abduct Laura, taking her to a safe house, the two have a chance to reconnect not only on a sexual but emotional level. It’s during this time together Ms. Kery’s superb characterization of the two really shines, as the two of them allow the years to slowly melt away. As they reconnect, Shane starts to wonder why Laura left him in the first place. Using D/s as his tool, he seduces Laura in order to chip away at the wall she’s placed around her heart. The sex scenes in Sweet Restraint are fog-your-glasses hot keeping this suspenseful mystery moving at a break neck speed to its satisfying conclusion. With Sweet Restraint Beth Kery has gained a spot in my limited must buy author list for blending D/s, moving characters, and a rockin’ storyline! |
