Back in high school, Emma Carter was the unpopular girl, who secretly had a crush on the most popular guy, Max Cannon. Now, the once awkward Emma, is all grown up and owns her own store.

Ten years ago, Max Cannon always stood up for Emma when students made fun of her. There was always something about the misfit teenager that spoke to his inner puma.

With Max back in Halle as the town’s new pride leader, things start to heat up when he sees the woman Emma has become. For Max has spotted his mate and the puma within him plays for keeps. But Max’s ex wants him back and will do anything in her power to make sure that she gets what she wants…

The Wallflower by Dana Marie Bell is a cute, lighthearted romantic comedy, whose plot is right up my alley. I always enjoy seeing the once unpopular high school girl get the hottest guy, or puma, in the county. Since The Wallflower is the first book in the Halle Puma series, I would have liked the author to delve more into the background of the Halle pumas. On one hand, Bell cutely develops the love story between the main characters but it does seem like the concept of puma shapeshifters takes a second seat.

Bell’s comedic timing is spot on and there were times where I burst out laughing. The passion between Max and Emma steaming up the pages mixed with Dana Marie Bell's comedic writing, make this book an easy read. If The Wallflower is any indication of the rest of the series, I look forward to reading the other books.
