Brandon is a vice cop investigating the murder of an 16 year old Asian boy named David Huynh and Jeff Weaver is his long time partner and friend. Weaver is not completely comfortable with his partner being gay but he puts up with it. Right now Brandon’s boyfriend, Nick O’Malley, is coming back to town. Not really good timing since Nicky is still recovering from his former injuries and this new case seems to have some evil twists, like human trafficking and murder for hire. Meanwhile, Brandon is still battling whether or not to come completely out of the closet too. Can Nicky convince him to take a chance on their love before the Asian gangs kill Brandon or himself? James Buchanan brings action, adventure, and hot man love to the story Inland Empire. One of the things I really admire about Mr. Buchanan’s writing is there is always a well written story to go with the hot man love. Inland Empire is book two in the Taking the Odds series and although it is part of a series, I feel this could be read alone and enjoyed. Brandon is a tough guy cop who doesn’t advertise his sexuality. He likes things low key. Nicky has recovered from a near death which has changed his perspective on life and love. He knows he wants Brandon and is willing to do whatever it takes to have him. The action taking place around the love story is fast paced and will keep you glued to the pages. I know I will be for more in this series in the future. Mr. Buchanan writes stories you should not miss! |
