Brianna Claxton, aspiring witch, seems to have trouble casting spells. When she finds an ancient spell book among donated items from her friend, Brianna uses the book as an opportunity for more practice. Fate has plans for her because she summons a demon, a very attractive demon, who does not want to be sent back to finish his sentence.

Asmodeus, leader and commander of the Second Angelic Revolt, has been tortured in the Abyss fires for the last 2,500 years. Sentenced for creating the Nephilim race and the resulting purifying flood, hatred and fire have hardened him. Now that he has been summoned, he has no intentions of returning. Asmodeus has waited a long time for revenge and nothing will stand in his way.

The one kink in his plan is the sexy witch who summoned him from the Abyss. She tempts him to want more…when embarking on a relationship would be against the law. When the four Angels of Death present Brianna with an ultimatum - kill Asmodeus or go to the Abyss herself – she must make a decision. The closer she gets to Asmodeus and the more he trusts her with his past, the more difficult her decision becomes.  Their fate will be decided by their actions.

I did not want to put Asmodeus down. Dawn McClure introduced the characters in the novel, and then cleverly intertwined their growth so that their love story was believable. I really believed that their interest in each other went beyond sex and could withstand time, which was necessary because the plot involved immortals beings. At the very beginning of the book, the character introductions were jumpy and short, with Brianna and Asmodeus primarily focusing on their shortcomings and past.   This abruptness was contrasted by flowery descriptions of the sensory details surrounding the main characters.  However, once the story began to unfold, the writing style evened out and the characters began to feel like real people, who wanted to overcome all adversity in order to be together. Asmodeus does not disappoint and I would recommend it to any reader who enjoys paranormal romance.
