Freeman is a very private man, mostly just an observer. He is at George’s club. George was always a player, new man every night, and the local crime boss. There Freeman meets a man he calls Kit. One of George’s cast offs but he is cute and stirs something in Freeman that he thought was long lost. Kit is trouble though. Freeman has always had a soft spot for trouble. He especially finds himself wanting the trouble Kit brings. When danger and lies threaten the new trust the two men have for each other, can they get past it all before it is too late and they are both lost to each other forever? Freeman is a very complicated and intense read. Clare London brings emotional angst and crime to a new level. I loved Freeman he is very complex, quiet with a lot going on behind his eyes. He is patient but a protector that knows how to get the job done. Kit is hiding many things, most of them immortal or illegal. He too has many secrets. The storyline to Freeman often had me confused and slightly lost. Once I found the rhythm to this novel I could not stop reading though. Freeman is not a light read, read this book when you have some time to really digest the characters and plot, when you peel back the layers, Freeman is a book to remember. I hope there is more to this novel in the future, and is expanded as a sequel, as I can see many good things in the future for the characters that Ms London creates. |
