| Alaric survived the civil war within the Fey, but not whole. As a forge master Alaric should have been a neutral party in the war, but he was brutally attacked and left for dead. Alaric lived, but so scarred that even he is flinches at the sight of his own face. So Alaric understands why his lover, Lord Valerian, walked away from him – even after proposing mating formally and giving Alaric a betrothal ring. The betrayal is a wound that won’t heal. However, Alaric’s best-friend, Lilly, has plans to fix this “misunderstanding” between Alaric and Valerian by making Alaric attend the Queen’s Reconciliation Ball and use the wish granted to all attendees to approach Valerian. But will Alaric be brave enough to stand up to Valerian? If Wishes Were Horses is great introduction to the world of the Fey as created by Sarah Leslie and it will most definitely place her as an author to watch out for in upcoming publications. Alaric is a wounded man that will elicit sympathy even as he frustrates readers with his self-pity. However, when he comes together with Valerian the tension, passion and sensuality of their encounter will completely wrap you up in their emotions. Just like the warning says - keep your computer well protected as the explosive passion might overload your systems! If Wishes Were Horses is a great steamy introduction to Sarah Leslie’s work and the wonderful fantasy world she creates, which will leave you eagerly awaiting the next installment in this series. |
