 | | Dr. Carly Chambers had let Hurricane Katrina force her to leave the city that she loved once, but now that she was back, she vowed to stay. She worked at Charity Hospital run by the state of Louisiana, and they were slowly climbing back from the place the mighty hurricane had thrown them. Carly worked the night shift in ER. She had just gotten off duty and was headed toward her car when a massive mountain kidnapped her. Tony Pantera, an antiques dealer who owned Changing Times, had been shot after a fight and he was slowly being poisoned by a silver bullet, but he dared not go to a hospital for fear of unwanted questions from the police. His friend Micah brought the hospital to him in the form of a gorgeous blonde doctor who made Tony's heart sing even though his head said not to get involved with another human woman. After all, he'd failed to protect Jenny—she was now dead. How, then, could he afford to listen to his heart and not his head? Marilu Mann tells a delightful story of a shapeshifter war between were-cats and were-dogs. A war wherein a devious Slade will do anything, now that he is Alfa of the Turn Skins. He wants humans to know that they are not alone on earth, for them to be very afraid. If killing one or two, or even three will stir up fear, so much the better! Sides are drawn and Carly finds herself in the middle of a war that has long been denied, with her as bait. Tony may well be drawn to his death when he tries to save her! Tony fights his attraction to Carly but he fails miserably at protecting his heart, just like he failed to protect Jenny. There is a stronger connection between him and Carly than he ever had with Jenny. Changing Times is one fast-paced hot read that just left me wanting more and more! |
