| Title: Trin Author: J. M. Snyder Publisher: Aspen Mountain Press Genre: Futuristic, Horror Publication date: September 2006 ISBN: 978-1-60168-007-5 Pages: 123 Series: |
Trin lives in a futuristic post-apocalyptic time existence in which winged creatures called devlars terrorize the wastelands and humanity’s only defense is gunners, who travel in caravans to fight back. Trin’s nature responds to these brave individuals and to one in particular, Gerrick. Orphaned when devlars killed his parents when he was only eight, Trin was reared by his brother Blain, the elder by twenty years. Blain runs an outpost and Trin is a mechanic in the garage there. While he’s only seen Gerrick once, he’s fallen in love with his legend.
When Trin and Gerrick meet, all the years Trin’s spent asking after Gerrick come back to him when Gerrick confronts him directly about it. Trin is rather naïve for his age, and he believes that his own love and lust will be strong enough to capture Gerrick’s heart. But Gerrick has been on the road for too many years to be held captive so easily. J. M. Snyder continues to demonstrate his gift for fiction-writing in Trin. I have definitely become a convert. I was enticed from the first sentences and the plot was off and running. Sensations of sensuality are present from the very beginning without being belabored, and the characters’ dialogue is realistic and enticing. Rarely has a novel made me this hot, this fast, and it’s surely left me anticipating more from this inspired author. I read the entire story with my heart in my mouth, and the stunning denouement was totally unexpected. I can’t recommend Trin highly enough. |
