Take a walk on the wild side in What Happens in Vegas. Jodi Lynn Copeland, Anya Bast, Lauren Dane, and Kit Tunstall know how to put the SIN in Sin City!
Hot for You by Jodi Lynn Copeland
Carinna and Jack are two people with big dreams living in Sin City. Carinna’s dream is to open a bed and breakfast. Jack, a firefighter, would love to open up a car detailing garage with the lovely Carinna by his side. Entering a poker tournament with those goals in mind, can he win big, and convince Carinna to take a chance on him?
Hot for You was one fiery story. Who knew firefighters could be so hot to trot! Ms. Copeland gives us great characters in Carinna and Jack. Carinna is commitment phobic, having had people leave her in the past, so she uses sex as a recreational outlet. Jack’s loved her for some time and understands he must take things to a new level in order to get her attention. Boy, does he ever get her attention as he turns up the sexual heat! Carinna is Jack’s willing partner in two highly erotic scenes involving a Jacuzzi and the firehouse that will forever be emblazoned into my memory. By demonstrating both tenderness and feral sexuality, Jack wins Carinna’s mind and heart.
Stripped by Lauren Dane
Dahlia Baker is a burlesque dancer working at The Dollhouse to put herself through MBA school. She’s been simultaneously blessed and cursed with a natural beauty that women envy and men desire in a very carnal way. One evening, the owner’s brother, Nash Emery, spies Dahlia as she is doing her routine. He comes on to her in a tasteless manner, offending her highly. Dahlia rebuffs Nash’s advances, which in turn intrigues him, making him want to garner her affections. Will Nash be successful in his courting of the lovely Dahlia?
Ms. Dane is at the top of her prose in Stripped. Dahlia and Nash are great characters who battle their own prejudices to eventually find everlasting love. Nash is at a watershed in his life when he meets Dahlia, knowing something is missing from his life. I loved how Dahlia calls him out on his snobbishness, making him take stock of his life. I applauded his subtle campaign, allowing them both to get to know each other before taking their relationship to a sexual level. I loved that he became vulnerable to her during their courtship. I cheered Dahlia on as she worked through her body image issues and allowed herself to love someone again. Bravo, Ms. Dane! This is one couple I confidently feel will continue to love and laugh together.
Red-Handed by Kit Tunstall
Amy’s cousin, Kevin, begs her to help their family by devising a complex scheme to rob the Liege Casino. While monitoring her cousin’s play, she’s caught by casino management and brought to its owner, Roan Cavello. Not wanting to give her cousin up, Amy convinces Roan to let her work off the debt as his sex slave. Will Roan take Amy up on her offer? How will she react when she finds out Roan is a sexual dominant?
Red-Handed gripped me from its opening word and kept me fully absorbed until its romantic ending. I enjoyed Amy’s journey into submission with the ever ready Roan. This Dom was full of surprises that kept an eager Amy on her toes! The dialogue between them was crisp and the love scenes were orgasmic. I felt for Amy as she grew to love Roan, believing that their relationship would be a passing fancy for him. This is the first work I’ve read by Ms. Tunstall but it will definitely not be my last.
The Deal by Anya Bast
Cassidy is a wounded soul, having been jilted at the altar only a year ago. She’s grateful the best man, James, has been there as solace all these lonely days and nights. James has loved her for some time and values their friendship, but wants to take their relationship to a deeper level. When Cassidy says she’s looking for someone to sleep with, James proposes a unique arrangement -- five nights of sin to be determined by the cards. Will Cassidy take James up on his offer? Will lady luck be with James as he tries to convince Cassidy of his love?
Ms. Bast writes a lovely story of one woman’s inner pain in The Deal. I thought James was ingenious in the way he took advantage of Cassidy’s plight by suggesting “no strings sex.” He demonstrated his love for Cassidy by letting the cards determine who would call the shots each night. I feel that made Cassidy more receptive to his proposition because she got to live out some of her fantasies too. As she becomes more involved with James, Cassidy sees him in a whole new light. I loved the way that she came to terms with her ex-fiancé, giving her the freedom to love James.
