“Sex would distract him from the weirdness.” This quotation from Sly Spectral Trick in some way epitomizes how the author ties her plots together. She uses the intimacy of laughter, anguish, pride, love and misery to entangle the reader in the lives of her characters, so much so that we want to go back and revisit them over and over again. The weirdness of their lives is carried along by the emotional connections that are conveyed in her every sex/love scene. This was a great pick-me-up for the Halloween season, but if the reader hasn’t read any of the previous books it isn’t as enjoyable. So go read the others!
