Serena, an acolyte ready for her ascension in one of the Perrlain rituals, wants to go through with her sacrifice for the Deity, but she is somewhat uncomfortable with her first time. Matt Sterling, determined to start a better life than being the Toymaker, seeks out the Perrlain to help deal with his demons. The night of Serena’s ascension celebration started out as planned, but an evil enemy from another tribe was able to masquerade as the Chosen One. Sensing something was not right, Serena was able to stop him, and her ascension wasn’t as it should be. Unable to get past the fear of the man who almost took her sacrifice, Serena is unable to reach release with others. To achieve her status as spiritual healer for her tribe she must pass a final assessment. Matt knows that the Perrlain are primitive but didn’t realize they shun technology. Matt and Serena are soon intimately involved, but neither counted on falling in love. As they begin to bond more deeply with each other, the evil is about to strike again. Matt dreads the truth he must reveal to Serena and what her reaction will be. Comet Coalition 3: Replicant is a deeply moving and intense story. I am constantly amazed at Aubrey Ross’s talent for creating her worlds and her ability to pull me into the story immediately. I thoroughly enjoy experiencing all the exploits of Ms. Ross’s characters and they truly seem real and like family. I’m anxiously awaiting the next book. |
