Their houses are so close he can't avoid knowing everything that happens next door. He watches their wild parties – orgies, really – thinking he really doesn’t have much else to do. He watches, and he wishes he could feel something but he can’t. He's numb to any emotion but overwhelming guilt. Niki and Bryan Gauld host the wild parties but they don't participate; they just watch. They’re bored with the people who attend their parties, but Richard intrigues them both. They feel like their relationship is missing something, and they sense Richard is lonely too. One evening, instead of having their usual party, they put on a show just for him, visually seducing him. They need to find a way to break the ice and convince him to join them. He thinks they're just toying with him, but they know they're playing for keeps. Now they need to convince him just how serious they truly are. I could tell from first page that I was going to like this book. The cat-and-mouse build up in Veterans: Nothing To Lose by Mechele Armstrong is fascinating and it makes this book impossible to put down. Readers will really feel Rich's inner turmoil and long-lasting guilt, and will revel in the release of tension that Niki and Bryan provide. They’re like the much-needed balm to his overwrought soul. This will definitely appeal to readers who like books with “permanent” threesomes. |
