Trying to escape her humiliating marriage, Delores Hunter buys an old gothic mansion with a history of ghosts and mysterious deaths. Once she moves in, the rumors become real and Delores learns that ghosts and vampires really do exist. On her first night in the house, she meets the very masculine Morgan who offers to be her assistant. But is Morgan really who he claims to be? She knows he is concealing secrets about the house, its past owners, and even about himself. He also has this unnerving habit of getting her to reveal everything about her past. Should she trust him? Yet, when vampires attack, Morgan is right there protecting her. Morgan doesn’t want to be attracted to Delores. His past holds horrors that keep him from having a future with anyone. If only she could break through and heal the wounds that prevent him from letting anyone close enough to touch him. Suddenly, Morgan’s past comes back to haunt him and vampires come to destroy her. Will Delores find out the truth about her destiny, and will the demons that stand between her and Morgan finally be conquered? Or will they lose each other forever? Healing Wounds is a tale of suspense and intense emotions. Vanessa Gilfoy has developed dynamic characters that have to overcome incredibly tragic events in their lives in order to live, love, and have a future together. There were so many secrets that it got confusing at times, but as Morgan began to reveal them it was easier to understand. The plot had some twists and surprises that were riveting and well written. The ending left some unanswered questions, maybe for the possibility of a sequel. Vanessa Gilfoy has penned a good story and I look forward to reading more of her work in the future. |
