Wulf hasn’t been happy with the way his life with Luc has been going, but he is willing to do anything to make Luc happy – even if it means bringing others to their bed. However, every time Luc brings someone new it breaks Wulf’s heart a little more. Also, unbeknownst to Luc, Wulf has found someone who calls to his heart even if it means their death if they are caught together.

Luc will do anything to make Wulf happy even if it means having others in their bed when Luc would rather it just be Wulf and himself. Nevertheless, Luc’s machinations in the game of Peril take him further away from Wulf and place him in danger that even Luc, as a Sempervian, can’t imagine. Still, Luc must find a way to bridge this chasm that has formed between himself and Wulf because Wulf is his Chosen and Luc owes him for his loyalty and love.

Jawk has been sent to infiltrate Luc’s inner circle and gain information. Having spent the last year working towards this, Jawk is delighted when Luc finally invites Jawk to spend a night pleasuring Wulf for Luc’s enjoyment. However, once Jawk gets where he needs to be in Luc’s inner circle, will he be able to carry out his task?

As the intrigue builds, the characters evolve and the danger rises – will these men emerge unscathed? Or will they pay with their lives?

Jawk: Tales of the Chosen is an incredibly complex book that will capture your attention and keep you turning the pages. Kayelle Allen has done a magnificent job of bringing to life characters who are incredibly flawed yet undeniably attractive in their imperfections. Wulf is a man torn by his duty and his heart pulling in different directions. It is very easy to identify with him as everyone has at one time or another felt this way in their lives. Luc is harder to empathize with as he has a position of power that he does not hesitate to use to his advantage – even when it feels like a direct betrayal of Wulf. Jawk is the easiest to like of the three, with his easygoing manner and sharp humor that make him very appealing – even in his role of spy or betrayer. The levels of intrigue in this book are sky high and will keep you on the edge of your seat as you wait to see how it will all end. Wulf, Luc and Jawk made me by turns angry, sad and impatient with all their subterfuge while keeping hope alive that somehow they would all get a happy ending.

Kayelle Allen has crafted an intriguing tale that is engrossing while set in a rich universe and full of complex, if flawed, characters. Their story is gripping while waiting for some sort of resolution that delivers a satisfying ending for Luc, Wulf and Jawk. However, be warned that the book has a strong element of infidelity between the main characters. Jawk: Tales of the Chosen has a complicated plot that is hard to follow if the previous books in the series aren’t read before. I enjoyed Jawk: Tales of the Chosen immensely and I’m looking forward to the next installment of the series.
