Mona Lisa has no reason to believe that she is not human, until one night a man is brought in at the ER she works at. She feels a connection to his soul, but it is the smell of his blood that takes her to his bedside. When he begins to talk about Queens and children of the moon, she realizes that he must be delusional and that saddens her because a more beautiful man she has never before seen. What Lisa doesn’t know is that this man is a Monere, one of the children of the Moon, and a rogue Warrior fleeing from his cruel Mistress Queen, and he is going to change Mona Lisa’s life in ways she could never have imagined. All Mona Lisa has to do is embrace this newfound knowledge and follow it through to her destiny. Gryphon is being hunted and he is wounded. The men of the Monere race have been exiled from the moon. Gryphon recognizes Lisa as a Queen. Never in all the Monere race has there ever been a Mixed Blood Queen. She will have to fight for her rightful place because the other Queens are threatened by her undeveloped powers. Mona Lisa is resigned to fulfill her destiny and to find out just who she is and what these new desires means to her. Sunny takes command of Mona Lisa Awakening in the first few sentences and the reader is at her mercy, immersed in the moonlight that glows as brightly as any flame throughout this new world. Add the fierceness and passions of the Monere warriors, and it will simply keep you humming all the way until the end. What a lovely way to burn. Sunny is able to spark your imagination to life in a true fairytale of a book. But not the type of fairytale grandma use to tell, at least none that she would share with the kiddies. Such an entertaining storyteller, Sunny bring to life an amazing cast of characters, both primary and secondary. The author has created visuals that are at times cruel put represent a harsh reality that is the Monere Race. Blood and lust go hand and hand each is integral to the other. I don’t want to discourage anyone from this enthralling tale but I must warn that some may find the acts of violence towards some of the characters disturbing. I do think that the strength of the heroine will make up for any of these atrocities. |
