Jay Reid is living his dream. Jay has been in love with Dean Chapman forever and for the past year they have been lovers. That’s not to say that everything is perfect or that Dean is, but Jay’s life with Dean is…very, very good. It helps that Jay knows Dean better than Dean knows himself and that he has enough patience for the both of them while Dean works out the ins and outs of his relationship with Jay in his own mind. Now, if he can stop his meddlesome sister and every Tom, Dick and Harry from feeding Dean’s insecurities about their relationship and his ability to make it in the long haul, Jay would be happier still.

Dean Chapman knows he’s not perfect. Hell, Dean knows he’s no prize with his temper, inability to verbalize his feelings and the way he frequently comes across as an ass. Still, he loves Jay even if he can’t understand it and wishes he didn’t some days. Through it all Jay always has faith in him and is full of patience, waiting for Dean to work his way to crossing some lines that in his mind will push him across to the gay side. If he could just ignore all the people who very clearly are waiting for him to fail, things would be so much easier.

Angel Heart is a unique gay romance by Sharon Maria Bidwell and will pull at your heart-strings. Dean is your typical Alpha male with a good helping of insensitivity that sometimes hides his tender emotions. Jay, however, will capture your heart from the very start and will have you rooting for him. I really enjoyed this book as it presents a relationship where neither partner is perfect but these idiosyncrasies are what make them perfect for each other. I must admit that Dean was not a likeable character in my opinion in the first book Snow Angel, but this time we get to know him better and see him through Jay’s eyes which shows how Dean, despite all his faults, is exactly what Jay wants and needs. These two captured my heart and imagination and left me wanting for more. Angel Heart is a must have for lovers of m/m romance and anyone looking for characters that will stay with you.

Note: Angel Heart is the sequel to Snow Angel and although it can be read as a stand alone I highly encourage you to read the books in order to fully understand all the nuances in the story.
