Freezha is the perfect match for her combat instructor, Vyur, but he has many secrets he needs to share and she needs to understand before they can be mated. There is a part of Vyur that could destroy Freezha if she is not prepared for it when they mate. She will have to submit completely to him during the mating ceremony. Also, Freezha will have to prepare for changes in herself after she is mated. She will go into heat and need to be serviced continuously until the heat passes or she could die. To help the mates, a second man is chosen to service her when her mate tires. Freezha must accept that Vyur is a second in two other mating couples and he will be called upon to make love to the other women at times. Freezha must decide if she can accept all these things in order to be the mate of the man she loves. Beast Within is the first book in the Bonded Series by Mima. This is an unusual story and it has several wonderful parts. I loved the depth of emotion Vyur feels for Freezha and the fact that she calls to the beast in him. The mating ceremony is not quite to my taste as Freezha is menstruating during the ceremony and Vyur performs oral sex on her. This was just a bit too graphic for me. Despite that one scene, the sexual scenes are well written and compelling. I was not thrilled with the scene where Vyur services another woman when she goes into her heat but Mima does an amazing job writing the scene to the point where I felt as if I was Freezha and I felt her pain. Mima took me into the character’s feelings and thoughts. I did enjoy Beast Within and look forward to other books in this series. |
