Author’s Note: “Threat of Darkness is set in the same universe that the Witches Knot books are. It’s not part of the series and is a standalone story. But you’ll find some familiar faces here, and meet some new ones.”

Mei is sent on a mission to Tir na nOg – her homeland from where she believes she was exiled two millennia ago. Being torn from her family and her husband, Jayce, could have broken her but instead she has turned into a warrior for the Balance. When she discovers that everything she knows is a lie and that Jayce still lives, she’s torn, confused, because so much has changed in the time she's been away. After a thousand years of torture and rape, Mei found some semblance of peace and fell in love again. Card, half werewolf, half demon is now her mate, the person who holds her at night when awakes screaming from her nightmares and loves her unconditionally – her partner in all ways.

While Jayce was her first true love, now Card also holds her heart. The three of them must embark on a mission that draws them closer yet threatens to tear them apart as they take on the Dark Fae obsessed with having Mei for himself.

Both Card and Jayce are amazing men and any woman would be fortunate to have either of them – to have both is pure Heaven on Earth and Mei deserves them both. After what happened to her while she was imprisoned, just the fact that she survived and was able to rebuild her life shows her strength of character and deep passion for life.

I would recommend reading the Witches Knot series because the characters from that series play somewhat integral roles in Threat of Darkness. This story is more about good versus evil instead of being an actual love story because while some adaptation is necessary, the relationships between Mei, Jayce and Card are quickly cemented in the first couple chapters of this book. The world that Lauren Dane creates in an interesting one so if you’re looking for a book that will drawn you into a universe that you never imagined existed, this book is for you.
