The Golden Lioness by Skyler Grey

Trista is ecstatic when she received an invitation to the Plantation House for their annual masquerade ball.  The invitation arrived on beautiful parchment and seemed to be engraved with gold.  Real gold.  On the initiation is also a choice of this immortal she would like to spend the weekend with…a choice that she alone is suppose to make. Each year, the citizens of Mount Olympus hold a masquerade ball.  Each immortal is allowed to invite a human.  This year, Hercules invited Trista.  After seeing her in a dream, he became enamored by her and can only hope that from the list of gods she has to choose from, that she will select him.

The Golden Lioness took me down a path that I would never have guessed.  I’m torn between having a lot of unanswered questions and thinking that maybe that’s just the way I was suppose to feel.  The hero in this story is simply every woman’s dream lover come true.

Caging Kat by Kayleigh Jamison

Kat is the most sought after art thief on the black market but she’s begun to lose interest in her profession because there’s no longer any challenge.  When she finds herself suddenly homeless, she accepts an invitation to the Plantation House Masquerade Ball hoping to find a couple of easy targets and some quick cash.  When a man suggesting a wager approaches her, her only option is to accept. Ares has been inviting Kaitlin to the masquerade ball for years and when she finally accepts, he takes advantage of the opportunity to have the woman he wants in every way he wants.

Kayleigh Jamison has an easy flowing and relaxed writing style that is a delight to read.  The love scenes are very sexy and Ares is also a fantasy come to life.  His sexual aura and take charge attitude left me wanting more of him.  The ending will leave you wishing the piece was much, much longer!

Water Lily by Jamie Hill

Lillian Worth decided to attend the Plantation House Masquerade Ball hoping that it would bring a bit of excitement to her otherwise dull life.  It’s too bad that the gorgeous man she meets claiming to be Poseidon, is obviously nuts.  When he grants her one wish, her entire world changes…literally.

Lily going from thinking Poseidon is crazy to believing him in the space of a paragraph was a bit hard to accept.  The conversations between Lily and Poseidon were a bit stilted which contributed to their lack of chemistry.  Apparently Poseidon has been watching Lily and is quite taken with her but never in the story did it explain why.  She didn’t find herself attractive and without knowing why he was so drawn to her, his desire to commit to her farcical.

Stay With Me by Alisha Steele

Dionysos is bored with his life.  He’s tired of the constant flirting, parties, and essential lack of depth to his relationships.  When a guest at the Plantation House Masquerade Ball guesses his identity, he’s forced to grant her one wish. Sianne was hoping to find one of the goddesses but she was late arriving at the Ball so when she happens upon Dionysos, she makes her wish to go back to Greece when it was the height of culture and society.  In exchange she knows that he’ll request a boon and while she’s never enjoyed sex, she’s willing to pay his price to have her wish granted.

Stay With Me was a fun read.  It was written from the viewpoint of Dionysos and was humorous as well as charming.  Dionysos had a depth that I had not formerly associated with this particular deity and I found that I appreciated the story much more for it.  He was sweet, considerate, and above all selfless in his seduction of Sianne.  And his seduction of Sianne?  Oh.So.Hot. I really enjoyed the writing style of Alisha Steele and will definitely watch for more of her work.

Overall, I enjoyed reading Masquerade Volume One and look forward to Masquerade Volume Two!
