Joseph Vines lives a pretty normal life, if you overlook his mild obsession with wings, all things fairy and plants. It all started with an encounter with a Sidhe when he was five years old and the meeting changed his life. However, Joseph wasn’t really prepared when the same Sidhe shows up twenty years later and the changes that occur to Joseph as a result. Most difficult of all, the prophecy that this Sidhe tells Joseph he must fulfill, in order to survive, will mean that Joseph will never be able to return to his previous life. Braeden Shay has been keeping an eye on Joseph for the past twenty-five years. Braeden is a Sidhe warrior in exile and he has been biding his time until Joseph needs his help coping with the threat that fast approaches. However, when he takes Joseph away from all he has known to help him cope with the changes his Sidhe heritage bring about, their relationship becomes much more than teacher and student. Will Joseph ever forgive Braeden for being the one to uproot him so completely? Or will he look beyond it to see the perfect man for him? Just like the publisher’s warning says Fireflies is full of hot steamy manlove, and the inappropriate use of plants, but it also has a fast paced plot, action and, of course, angst. Joseph is a lovable man that is cheerful and practical without becoming annoying. While Braeden is a little bit of a martyr, you will love him all the same as he is full of charm and passion. Both Joseph and Braeden will catch your attention from the very start of the book and keep you hooked as they are explosive when they come together – and they come together often! Keep a cool glass of water near by…you will need it to cool off! However, the resolution of the plot seemed a little anti-climactic after the huge build-up, but Joseph and Braeden are full of the trade mark Ally Blue angst which will keep you chewing you finger nails. Fireflies is a steamy fantasy read that you shouldn’t pass up – it’s perfect for a hot and lazy summer afternoon. |
