| Title: Blood Red Author: Aline de Chevigny Publisher: Aspen Mountain Press Genre: Vampire Publication date: September 2006 ISBN: N/A Pages: 19 Series: Chronicles of the Cursed, Book 1 |
Mikael de Wohlf, aka “Cerberus Gnosis,” is a centuries-old vampire who spent his first few hundred years ravishing the nobility, paying back the denigration of his mortal life. He killed his Sire for lying to him, and he’s killed those who disapprove: all except for Annabella Miceli, the one woman who knows him for what he is, and then refuses him. She functions as his conscience, preventing him from wholesale slaughter of his enemies. As a Keeper, a position she inherited following the death of her father, she can work with vampires yet not be hypnotically bound to them. Mikael has waited nearly six centuries to find someone like Annabella, and being the independent female that she is, she wants him only on her terms. The intricacies of their minuet of desire entwined with romance is so steaming that I felt as if I was reading it while reclining on a tropical volcano! Get this one, get the ice, the AC, the shower, the toys: just read it! Aline de Chevigny has a true winner in Blood Red; this reviewer was left wondering where she could acquire a Mikael!
