Review Goes Here Solders follow orders, not question them. Especially when you happen to be Gideon Sinclair, an immortal, shape-shifting soldier for the Gods. However, that is exactly what Gideon does when he begins to suspect that all is not right with his current assignment. Gideon’s assignment is to “take out” Dr. Megan Carter. She has come in contact with an ancient artifact, and somehow this will cause a disturbance between the balance of good and evil. He always regrets when an unsuspecting mortal becomes a pawn in the games of the Gods. So when Gideon begins to suspect something isn’t right with this assignment, he decides he cannot kill her until he finds out what it is about this that just isn’t adding up. He needs to find answers fast, because not only is he risking his future, but the future of the moral world also. Unfortunately not all of the folks that Gideon works for think that he should be allow to take things into his own hands, and now they want him out of the picture too. What he doesn’t expect is to be so drawn to this mortal women in ways that he hasn’t felt in centuries. What will he do if he finds out that what he suspects is wrong, and she still will have to die? As he wonders what she would feel like in his arms, and how she would taste on his lips the line between his desire, and his duty become less clear. Dr. Megan Carter is an oncologist for children. Her patients are small and weak, and each time she sees one not make it to another day, she loses a part of herself. She works endless hours, and she is long overdue for some days off. What she doesn’t need is to be attacked by the ugliest, most foul smelling creature she has ever seen. If that isn’t odd enough a strikingly beautiful black panther saves her. She is sure that this must be some type of breakdown, or a symptom of the horrible headaches she has been suffering lately. When this glorious panther turns into just as glorious a man, and tells her if she wants to live she needs to go with him, she does what any person sane or insane would do, she runs. Megan and Gideon try to make sense of all that is happening around them, and also to them. They are going to have to make some tough choices, and quickly because their enemy is closer then they think. Immortal Protector by Ursula Bauer is a thrill a minute adventure story. Every time the Gods get involved with mortals something happens, and this time it’s no different. Ursula Bauer takes a stab at putting a different spin on the Gods of mythology. Mixing it so that she is able to create an incredible story that the reader will have no problem believing. Bravo to Ursula Bauer for being able to keep the imagination alive in Immortal Protector. |
