Kade Black Eagle is a bounty hunter in the Wild West’s gold country, and his best friend Ren has retired from Buffalo Bill’s Wild West tour after his daring rescue of folks from a tent fire.  After a year away from Ren, Kade has allowed his customary sharp edge to dull, and is caught out by a sadistic outlaw who’s determined to finally cross the line to murder, using Kade as his guinea pig. Kade’s mind has been focused on the longing he spotted in Ren’s eyes only three weeks ago, and now there may never be a chance to find out how deep that longing runs.  For Ren, that year apart has only honed the desire and love he has felt for Kade throughout the years. Ren has always prized their friendship above all, for growing up in a brothel he was all too aware of how short-lived intimacy often can be.

Friends from youth, the half-breed Kade and the prostitute’s son Ren were an instant hit, but Ren has never seemed to desire more than friendship, nor has he ever been capable of intimacy beyond a few days. Regardless, Kade’s come so close to dying that he stood on its threshold, and he’s not going to die with regret on his soul. So he makes Ren an offer: a partnership training horses. What Kade really desires is a life partnership, but he’s afraid to think Ren might want the same dream.

Whoa! I’ve never been an aficionado of Westerns, but if anyone had convinced me that the Wild West contained stories like A Good Man Is Hard To  Find, I would have been devouring its fiction for many years. This is one absolute sizzling story! Jeanne Laws puts the branding iron in the fire and then marks the reader with her own particular approach to cowboys and Indians. Reader, do not allow yourself to miss out on this story! You could read this one while sitting in a snow bank and immediately find yourself in the tropics; it’s that hot!
