 | Title: The Other Side Author: Kira Chase Publisher: eXtasy Genre: F/F Publication date: May 2007 ISBN: 1-55410-780-6 Pages: 300 Series: | | | The Other Side takes a look at the life of a woman that fought long and hard to become the first female Governor of her state. Clare is Ally’s one true love but Ally’s desire to forge her way in the volatile and unforgiving world of politics didn’t allow them to be together. While the 70’s were more liberal in regards to drugs and sex, there weren’t many women in politics so if she wanted to be successful, she had to play the game. Marrying Michael wasn’t her choice but it seemed to be the prudent thing to do and so she was convinced into doing it. Now, as she reflects back on her life, loves, and losses, she reviews both her tragedies and triumphs. The Other Side is a book that would make a fantastic movie. The numerous and detailed character development was interesting and insightful. The relationship between Clare and Ally is beautiful and tragic at the same time. They’re definitely soul mates and I couldn’t help but constantly wonder what their lives would have been like had their lives taken a different course. The complex dynamics of the characters in The Other Side really lent to showcasing the versatile talent of Kira Chase.
