Sylvie Durand is the new owner of Carpe Nocturne, a nightclub that is fast losing money. She comes up with the idea to have a costume night and the first night seems to be a success until she finds the dead body, the apparent victim of a vampire attack, hanging in her office. Sylvie is waiting for the police to leave when she is approached by a man in a vampire costume outside the bar. The man offers her a ride home, but, fearing him, Sylvie declines.

Burke Langton is a vampire on the run. He has been falsely accused of a series of murders and is trying to find the person responsible. When he meets Sylvie he is shocked to discover she is his Origo, a woman destined to have two vampire mates. Burke quickly begins to bond with Sylvie, but the bond cannot be completed until they meet the third in their triad. Miko Dvorak is a member of the Excoluni, the law enforcement for paranormal creatures and he is hot on Burke’s trail. When he finally corners Burke, he discovers Sylvie and their bond. He also learns he is the third in their bond.

Dressed To Kill is the first book in Tawny Taylor’s Carpe Nocturne series. This is a series that should be read in order. I am intrigued by this series and these characters. Burke is gentle and funny and Sylvie is amazingly accepting of the revelations Burke makes. Miko does not have a strong presence in Dressed To Kill as this story is more about the relationship developing between Sylvie and Burke. Indeed, this first installment of the Carpe Nocturne series is more about developing the groundwork for the remainder of the series. This is a series to watch as the first book is interesting and entertaining.
