Adam Holderman has been lusting after colleague Buzz at the watersport centre where they work during the college holidays. Still firmly in the closet, Adam can’t be sure whether Buzz is really in to him or whether his daily invitations for a date are a joke. Scarlet, yes that’s the Gone with the Wind one, thinks that he should go for it, but she is only in his head and so doesn’t have to face the real world. When Adam finally takes the first step, the rewards are greater than he could ever have imagined. Catching a Buzz is definitely the most amusing and heartwarming story of (relatively) young love I have across in a long while. Buzz and Adam’s relationship is so strange and their one liners so amusing that I wish this was a novel rather than a short story since I wouldn’t mind spending more time with these two. Scarlet cracks me up. Her first appearance in Adam’s head is so unexpected, but author Ally Blue manages to blend her perfectly in the story and her sudden appearances have perfect comic timing. What a truly enjoyable read! |
