Dominic and Griffin, both Master Vampires, play a game of magnetic attraction and withdrawal, a minuet of attempted Dominance and submission, played out through each other and through mortal slaves. Grif had been turned by a sadistic Master, Quinn, who instilled in him years of rage and pain, which only Dominic’s tutelage has helped him to overcome. Dominic intensely desires Grif, and that love/lust is returned, yet Grif refuses to submit to Dominic as a slave. As a Master himself, he insists on meeting Dominic in intimacy only as equals.

Once Dominic introduces another player into the equation, Tristan, a new slave, the balance of power alters. Tristan had been one of Quinn’s slaves during the same time period as Griffin, who remembers him as a manipulative con, and believes Tristan has applied to their household after seeing Grif’s photo on the website. Tristan had participated in gang rape of Tristan during their stay with Quinn, and now his goal is to acquire Grif for himself by driving a permanent wedge between Grif and Dominic.

The Power of Two is a story definitely worth a second, third, and even multiple re-eadings. This reviewer has already been through it twice! It’s the kind of tale that bears multiple layers and reveals its depths only upon careful rereading; and reader beware, the first time through you’re not going to feel anything but the heat!! Mychael Black and Shayne Carmichael are an unbeatable combination; may they continue writing together forever! The Power of Two is a tale NOT to be missed.
