Brea Maguire is a brand new private detective and has just been assigned her first case. She must find a statue called the Sacred Triad that has been stolen. Unfortunately she is given the case on Friday the Thirteenth, a day that has always been very unlucky for her. When she is kidnapped from the mall her luck with that particular day holds true. Marek and Dayne are vampires who would be enemies, but must be partners in order to find the Sacred Triad which Marek needs to save his brother’s life. Dayne hates Marek because he believes his brother is responsible for the murder of his family. The two men must blood bond with Brea in order for the men to work together. Marek and Dayne need to keep Brea at their sides until the bond is completed. Complicating matters for Marek, Dayne and Brea are a group of traitors determined to keep the three from finding the statue and to kill the king, Marek’s brother. Burning Hunger is an interesting vampire tale by Tawny Taylor. There are some undoubtedly hot sex scenes in this novel but for me they were almost overshadowed the manner of seduction used to on Brea. I felt that Ms. Taylor skated very close to allowing Brea to be a date rape victim who has been drugged. I did enjoy the struggle to find the statue and the emotional wringers the characters went through. Burning Hunger is a tale that will amuse and arouse especially when Marek and Dayne explore the attraction they feel for one another. This is book one in the Twilight’s Possession series and I cannot wait to read the next book in the series. |
