When Abhainn was a child, she had a playmate named Michael, a boy that had one-day washed up on the shores of a rocky beach from a place unknown. After a fortnight, his parents had come to claim him and while she never saw him again, she never forgot him. Twenty years later, when he appears and saves her from a troll attack, she’s stunned to realize he doesn’t remember her; it’s as if his memories were erased. Michael Craig is on a quest to find the source of the fine Irish woolen thread that’s become the life-blood of his family’s textile business. His travels lead him to an island that is not found on any map and to a woman that stirs something deep inside him. I hadn't read past the first five pages before Carolan Ivey captured both my heart and my emotions. The intensity of the first several pages never wavered and left me anxious to read what would happen next. Abhainn’s innocence coupled with Michael’s amazement made their interaction touching and entertaining. It’s obvious that each fantastic detail was thought through carefully, turning Abhainn’s Kiss into a culmination of talent and creativity. Ms. Ivey is a master at world building and had me completely enchanted with Abhainn’s Kiss. The Spinners brought tears to my eyes in both the beginning and the end and forever placed this book on my Keeper Shelf as well as in my heart. I highly recommend reading Abhainn’s Kiss by Carolan Ivey.
