Emma has been through a rough time and been taken in by the MacKelvin Clan. She has had no idea through the years, as she healed from her horrific ordeal, just how much the MacKelvins have done and sacrificed for the safety of her and her half-wolf, half-human daughter. The day of her daughter's wedding Emma was on top of a ladder decorating the church when Jamie MacKelvin walked in. Jamie lost his breath as well as his heart at first sight and first scent of his mate precariously perched on the flimsy ladder. Emma, still wary of men, was taken aback by this large wolf and surprised by her instant attraction to him. Because of her past she has not been attracted to a man, and especially not a wolf, since her brutal attack by one that resulted in the birth of her daughter when she was just a teen herself. Regardless of her attraction, there is a wedding to put on and she is the mother-of-the-bride with responsibilities and duties. She is not going to ruin her daughter's day for anyone or anything. Emma's story is heart warming, sweet, inspirational, and touching. As a reader I bonded with many of the characters, but Emma especially as I read her experiences that ran the gamut from a horrific past and the brave recovery from it to her seemingly idealistic future that ends up presenting hurdles and dangers that left me teary eyed and wondering if her past was actually so bad after all. The emotion between the characters in Jamie's Cherub that Gail Faulkner portrays beautifully is beyond well written and deserves recognition for the talent it must take to transfer them onto paper. The intricacy of the experiences the characters go through is not only well written but will leave you breathless, astonished, and amazed. The plot is so intricate and in-depth that it will leave you wondering if you truly understood all that went on and if you should maybe re-read the book to make sure you didn't miss anything. Gail Faulkner has created an intense intriguing plot that will enthrall you from front cover to the thrilling end with its love, lust, loyalty, shifter community and cultures, and the underlying danger and mystery. She has nailed the character development of this Lykosapien family of wolf shifters that are loyal, lusty, intense, and chalked full of testosterone-filled Alpha wolves that just can't deny their sexual chemistry or desires. I knew within the first three pages that I was going to love this book and it just kept getting better from there. Jamie's Cherub is by far the best Shifter/Vampire book that I have read in a long time and can say with confidence that it will not disappoint you. I can not recommend Jamie's Cherub highly enough and know that you will enjoy it as I did if you like Vampire, Shifter, or Dominant/submissive genres. I enjoyed the melding of the three genres that resulted in this amazing book. |
